Liverpool star Virgil Van Dijk admits it would be a huge honour if he won the Ballon d'Or.
Many fans and pundits rate Van Dijk among the best players in the world, while the club's Champions League success has propelled him into individual award consideration.
While the Dutchman is focused on being part of successful teams, he cannot deny how much he would enjoy winning such an important individual honour.
"If I am rewarded for the season I had last year that would be unbelievable and I would be so proud," Van Dijk said to reporters.
"But I feel there is still more to come. I can get more out of me."
If Van Dijk did win the award, he would be the first defender since Fabio Cannavaro won it in 2006 after Italy's World Cup success.
