Aston Villa boss Dean Smith insists he's taking Carabao Cup seriously ahead of the derby with Wolves.

Smith is expected to ring the changes this evening and could bring in as many as nine fringe players into Villa's XI, including the likes of Jed Steer, Henri Lansbury and Anwar El Ghazi.

Two players who will start are Conor Hourihane and Keinan Davis, the latter performing bullishly against Manchester City last weekend after a 20-minute substitute appearance at The Etihad.

Speaking ahead of Wolves, Smith said: "It's a last-16 game in the Carabao Cup. We've got a proud history in the competition so it's one we're all looking forward to. It's a full house.

"The rivalry has never been a massive one between Villa and Wolves, not like Villa-Birmingham or Villa against West Brom but, they're a well-established Premier League team now who got promoted a couple of years ago and looked fantastic last year who are now trailblazers in Europe."

He added: "The lads like Conor (Hourihane) who didn't play today will play, Keinan will play so we'll go with a few changes that's for sure."
