Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer defended his decision to start Phil Jones over Axel Tuanzebe.

The Red Devils lined up with a 3-4-3 formation to start the game against Sheffield United.

Jones was tormented by the Sheffield attackers, with his mistake leading to the first goal for the home side.

When Solskjaer spoke about his team selection before the game, he said the following about playing Jones.

The Englishman was hooked at half time, with United rallying from 0-2 down to take a 3-2 lead, before settling for a 3-3 draw in the Premier League game on Sunday.

"We know about Sheffield United's strengths and we've got to defend well. Obviously set plays in the box, stop crosses," explained Solskjaer to Sky Sports before kick-off.

"We know tactically we have to be spot-on and of course mentally, because this ground is not an easy one if you don't get a good start.

"So Jones comes in with the experience. He's been fit now for a while and been training hard and well, so he will give us a good option in two positions."
