Former Burnley midfielder Steven Defour is delighted with his move to Royal Antwerp.

Defour has penned a one-year deal.

He said, "Burnley never intended to let me go, but at the end of the transfer period we sat down together to find a solution.

"I know that the KV Mechelen fans might have hoped or dreamed that I would sign there, but Antwerp is not immediately a big rival. This sporting project appealed to me enormously. I always said that I would close my career at Mechelen.

"It has not been done yet and I hope it will take a while. Antwerp has always shown interest. Even in January."
