Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was reluctant to buy a new striker this summer.
The Telegraph says inside the club there is a willingness to accept United have left themselves short up front following the failure to land a replacement for either Alexis Sanchez or Romelu Lukaku.
Discussions were held about signing a new forward but Solskjaer wanted to give Anthony Martial a chance up front.
He also was eager to give more opportunities to Marcus Rashford and youngster Mason Greenwood.
