Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar is eager to get a deal for Leicester City defender Harry Maguire settled.
Solskjaer spoke of the England international after their friendly shootout win over AC Milan in Cardiff.
"Hopefully, the last little details will be in place and we can announce something very soon," said the manager.
"Let's get the details over the line but he's played a few games over the summer so we'll just have to assess him, if and when [in terms of potentially being available for the (Chelsea match)."
Maguire was undergoing a medical at Carrington on Saturday.
