As you know, realme is OPPO's branching entity that aims to provide affordable, 'fashion'-centric smartphones to customers; while OPPO focuses on the more traditional smartphone market. But it looks like realme is ready to go independent, reports claim.
Chung Hsiang-wei, chief commercial officer for realme Taiwan has come to say that the brand is likely to step out of its parent company's shadows should their own business continue to grow.
Currently, both brands share resources and should realme detach from the family, they'd have to develop their own software and source their own hardware. However, the company has set up its own R&D team and are working on building their own ecosystem.
This is all still in the pipelines, and whether it happens heavily depends on realme's success in the coming year. We're always advocating for a healthy, competitive market, so realme's independence will definitely be positive news for consumers.
