Former Ireland international Tony Cascarino believes that it is time for England to trust in Joe Gomez.

Many Three Lions fans were disappointed at the performance of Michael Keane in central defence against the Czech Republic.

He was deemed at fault for the second goal, which gave the Czechs a 2-1 win in the Euro 2020 qualifier.

Cascarino believes Gomez should play for England, even if he is not a regular for Liverpool right now.

"Your looking for Michael Keane and Harry Maguire to be a partnership so far it doesn't look like there's one," he told talkSPORT.

"Whether that changes between now and next summer, I'm not sure.

"I certainly think Michael Keane gives away too many chances, John Stones, likewise. He's lost his place at Man City and getting injured.

"We're trying to find the one to partner Harry Maguire and I think Joe Gomez can get in that Liverpool team.

"Unfortunately for him, Joel Matip is playing at a much higher level than anyone expected."
