Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu is planning to surprise Leo Messi when they sit down to discuss new terms.
With his contract to expire in 2021, Bartomeu and Messi are due to sit down to consider a new deal, says ESPN.
It was expected the pair would agree to a new 12 month extension. However, Bartomeu has other ideas.
Instead, the president plans to offer the club captain a new four-year deal, which take him up to 36 years of age.
Should Messi put pen to paper, it would mark his tenth contract extension as a Barca player.
