Patrik Dibrani has revealed Granit Xhaka immediately regretted his blow-up with Arsenal fans on Sunday.
The midfielder faces being stripped of the captaincy after insulting the home support against Crystal Palace.
Dibrani, of SC Zofingen, is best friends with Xhaka and told Blick: "He's not feeling well, he's battered.
"He immediately regretted the action. He is emotional. But he will be buried alive, by the fans, by the English media. He is at an age where mistakes can be made. And he is a human.
"For me these are tourist fans who beat him up like that. They are not real fans."
He added: "I myself am a fan of Manchester United - that club and Arsenal are just five, six years short of the top. In terms of level, both clubs are just not as good as Liverpool and Manchester City at the moment. "
