West Ham United have not given up on signing Aaron Long.

The Hammers are very eager to sign the New York Red Bulls defender.

However, they are experiencing issues getting a work permit for a player who would cost roughly 4 million.

Per Sky Sports, the Hammers are speaking with the UK Home Office to understand what it would take to get Long an approved work permit before the window shuts.

The American has played 11 times for his country.

Dharmesh Sheth said on Sky Sports News: "Representatives of New York Red Bulls defender Aaron Long are still trying to get the player a work permit. West Ham want to sign him for 4m."

Other teams with an interest in Long include Marseille, Rennes and Lyon in France.
