RB Salzburg coach Jesse Marsch was left frustrated after defeat at Champions League opponents Liverpool.

Marsch has admitted his side showed Liverpool "too much respect" in their 4-3 defeat at Anfield.

He said: "We did have too much respect for them in the first half, that is for sure, but the whole world watches this team play.

"I said on Austrian television before the game that preparing to play against Liverpool was so much fun because to watch how this team plays, the passion they have, the quality on the pitch on now trying to think about ways to strategise how to play for them, that was a lot of fun.

"We played Real Madrid and Chelsea in pre-season to get a feel of what playing the biggest opponent is like but that was in our stadium,. I think when you come to a place like Anfield, it is not just the opponent, it is the entire experience.

"And I think our young team have learned so much, it is our first loss of the season, so we clearly have a good team. But I think that they will take away a lot from this and I give them a lot of credit because I think they have learned a little bit more about themselves and each other and they have got better."
