Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would've been happy seeing Paul Pogba sold this summer, it has been revealed.

Pogba, 26, will stay with United until January at least after Real Madrid failed to make a move for the Frenchman.

Pogba made no secret of his desire to quit United earlier this summer, admitting he was looking for a new challenge.

The Daily Mail says despite Solskjaer suggesting he wanted Pogba to stay put, he was open to selling the World Cup winner.

He was in favour of selling the Frenchman, as long as it was done at the start of the summer.

Solskjaer also demanded any funds brought in from the deal had to be reinvested in the squad.

That is where links to the likes of Christian Eriksen (Tottenham) and Bruno Fernandes (Sporting CP) materialised but it was evident when pre-season began that Pogba was unlikely to be going anywhere.
