Liverpool coach Pepijn Lijnders is very impressed by the performances of youngster Harvey Elliott.

The 16-year-old featured for the club in preseason and will get a chance in the Carabao Cup for the Reds.

And he has spoken about the maturity that Elliott displays in his performances, especially for someone of such a young age.

Lijnders said to the club's official website: "What a surprise he was when he came in the first session. Some players, they play as if they are already 28 or 29, he's this player who sees so much around him before things happen.

"It's not easy to step into our training because our training, if you want to play high-intensity football, you have train high-intensity football. It's not easy to come in and then have control and find combinations, etc.

"He showed this from the first second, so then you are a talented boy. I don't want to put more pressure on him, but we're really happy that he's with us."
