Wan Azizah: PH to discuss Tanjung Piai by-election soon

SERDANG: A Pakatan Harapan (PH) meeting will be called soon to discuss the by-election for the Tanjung Piai parliamentary seat in Johor, following the death of MP Datuk Dr Md Farid Md Rafik on Saturday.

PH president and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (pix) announced this today, when speaking to reporters after officiating at the launch of the Malaysian Research Institute on Ageing (MyAgeing) complex at Universiti Putra Malaysia here.

She also expressed sadness over the death of Dr Md Farid, 42, at Hospital Pontian after suffering a heart attack.

The deceased MP won the Tanjung Piai seat during the 14th general election with a majority of 524 votes.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission today announced that a meeting would be convened on Oct 1 to discuss important dates concerning the impending by-election. — Bernama
