Former Liverpool, Aston Villa and Derby striker Dean Saunders has had his 10-week jail sentence for suspected drink-driving suspended for 18 months.
Judge Steven Everett, Honorary Recorder of Chester, quashed the immediate jail sentence and instead suspended the 10-week prison sentence for 18 months.
Saunders was also ordered to do 200 hours unpaid work in the community at Chester Crown Court today. His 30-month road ban remains.
Saunders, 55, said he had only drunk one pint when he was stopped by police for "atrocious" driving in Chester city centre on May 10.
Saunders had been on bail since August 29 until his appeal at Chester Crown Court on Friday morning.
