Gazzetta dello Sport's Nicolo Schira claims the full-back revealed he wanted a return to his native Italy.
Darmian, 29, made just six Premier League appearances for the Red Devils last season and hasn't made the match day squad this campaign.
Schira tweeted: Matteo Darmian has asked the transfer to Manchester United. He wants to return to Italy.
"Juventus, Fiorentina and Inter are interested in him."
