He is now wanted by the biggest clubs in Europe, including Real.
Sky Sports says Real will offer Gareth Bale plus 70 million to City for Sterling.
It is unlikely that such an offer would be presented mid-season, given both players would be cup-tied for their respective teams should they move.
But it appears an offer will arrive in the summer, with Real president Florentino Perez determined to add another star to his front line.
A bid including Bale is unlikely to get much traction, as City would prefer straight cash if they are to part with their best player.
