Sepp van den Berg made his debut for Liverpool against Sporting CP after receiving his international clearance.
The former PEC Zwolle defender was given a rousing reception by the Reds fans on the night.
Van den Berg joined Liverpool from PEC Zwolle in June for an initial fee of 1.3million, but a series of appearance-based add-ons could see the Eredivisie side inherit around 4.4m.
Liverpool fended off competition from Bayern Munich, PSV and Sampdoria for the highly-rated 17-year-old.
