Newcastle manager Steve Bruce laid into his players in a furious tirade after their humiliating 5-0 loss to Leicester City.
The Magpies were a man down and laid down tools in the second half as Leicester overran them.
And Bruce, who wants to instill defensive solidity into the team, was very disappointed by the effort shown by his players.
After the match, Bruce said to reporters: "It was a complete surrender and happened too quickly, too easily.
"I've only been at the club two or three months and I certainly haven't witnessed what I witnessed here. Too many felt sorry for themselves.
"It was nowhere near what's required. If you have 10 men or nine men, the one thing you can show is a bit off resilience. Determination, a bit of fight or courage, whatever you want to call it.
"We simply haven't done enough to put anything right.
"That's the disappointing thing for myself, resilience is the only thing I really genuinely, demand from them - to play in a certain way - but we didn't see that here."
