Newcastle United academy chief Ben Dawson is hopeful of Elias Sorensen getting a fresh chance at loan club Carlisle United.

Dawson believes that new Carlisle boss Chris Beech can't have too many complaints about Sorensen's attitude.

The Danish Under-21 striker was overlooked by recently sacked Carlisle boss Stephen Pressley who afforded the Toon youngster just one start during his season-long loan stint.

Dawson told the Evening Chronicle: "It is a difficult one for him.

"Ultimately he needs to try to get in their team (Carlisle).

"Sometimes showing a bit of will can send a message to the manager by showing he is prepared to play in those type of games.

"It's him saying: 'Look I am digging in here and working hard and want to play', so in that respect it's not a bad thing.

"We are obviously monitoring the situation closely."
