Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Harry Maguire did exactly what he was signed to do in Sunday's 4-0 win over Chelsea.
The Red Devils made Maguire the most expensive defender in history when they paid 80m to Leicester City for his signature last week.
The 26-year-old was imperious against the Blues and Solskjaer was delighted with his performance.
"He's done exactly what we've signed him for, his presence in both boxes, his calmness and composure on the ball," he told Sky Sports.
"He's a leader and with him, David de Gea and Victor Lindelof they marshalled that back line really well. It is important to have strong personalities at the back."
