Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer plans to withdraw Daniel James from the frontline.
Solskjaer fears the Welsh winger could risk burnout or serious injury if he carries on.
It was thought he would be eased into Premier League life after a 20m move from Swansea this summer.
But James has virtually been an ever-present due to his solid performances and injuries to key players.
An Old Trafford insider told The Sun: Nobody can question Daniel's attitude or fitness, but he has to be taken care of.
We don't want to see him sidelined with an injury due to fatigue.
Ole is just making his mind up when to order him to put his feet up.
It's a massive step up coming here and the intensity of games including the Europa League."
