Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain admits he's desperate for title success after missing last season's Champions League final triumph.

Although he had recovered from his long-term knee problem, he never managed to get on the pitch in Madrid.

Oxlade-Chamberlain told the Daily Star: When your team is doing well you want to be a part of that.

I was at a top club in Arsenal for many, many years with top players but we never quite had a team that achieved what we would have wanted to achieve.

It's not every day you get to be part of a squad like this one now that we are serious title contenders, and one that won a Champions League last season. You want to be a part of that, desperately.

That's something that keeps driving me forward and I feel like I can add a bit extra to us as well when I'm fit and firing at my best.

I feel I can bring another dimension to the team to help us a little bit more from time to time. That's my aim.

I'm desperate to be a part of something similar to what we achieved last season and the league is the target of course as well as retaining the Champions League.

I feel if I can get myself back to where I need to be, I feel like I can be an addition and help the team as well.

The league is something we have fallen short on for a number of years now and we were very close last year so I hope that this year we can go one step further. It would be special, for sure."
