Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer denies that he will give preference to the Europa League over the Premier League.

United already look adrift in the race for the top four in their domestic league.

But they know that winning the Europa League is a route into next season's Champions League. Yet Solskjaer will not prioritise the cup competition yet.

"I think the Europa League is important for us and it's a tournament that we won when we were last in it," Solskjaer told reporters.

"But, in a cup tournament, you can't rely on winning it.

"There might be [bad] luck, there might be injuries. The Champions League next season is an aim for us: whether [we qualify] through the top four or the Europa League, it doesn't matter for us.

"We're still in [October] and you're talking about us not being in the top four. I think you're being a little bit early in that assumption."
