AS Monaco midfielder Cesc Fabregas has defended Olivier Giroud's place in Didier Deschamps' France squad.
The Chelsea veteran's selection remains controversial in France, particularly as he's not a regular starter.
But former Blues teammate Cesc said: "I played with Giroud and he has his characteristics and I understand perfectly why Deschamps has so much confidence in him.
"This is the best selection and they showed it during the World Cup."
Cesc left Chelsea in January for ASM.
