Former Real Madrid midfielder Hamit Altintop would like to see Jose Mourinho return to the club.
Mourinho is being linked with Zinedine Zidane's job at Real.
Altintop told AS: "We must respect Zidane and rely on the process that Madrid has begun to renew itself in the coming years.
"But Mourinho and Madrid formed a great club. He has personality and stopped that successful cycle of Bara. I think Mou is a great motivator and still has a lot to offer football..."
He also said: "It was only one season, but I keep it with love. I liked the experience, it was the famous Liga of records. I had bad luck because a week after signing for Madrid I injured my back. I told them that if they wanted they could break the agreement. But Mourinho said no.
"They behaved very well with me."
