TOKYO: Tokyo stocks opened lower on Wednesday following drops on Wall Street amid a flare-up in trade tensions between the United States and Europe.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 index fell 0.87% or 189.28 points to 21,613.31 in early trade while the broader Topix index was down 1.01% or 16.39 points at 1,602.37. — AFP
