In the small town of Garden City, Kansas, a 15-year-old girl named Rachel Pratt lived with her parents and seven younger siblings. Despite her busy schedule of extracurricular activities and academic success, Rachel shocked her parents when she was caught shoplifting from Walmart on New Year's Eve 1994. The item she attempted to steal was a pregnancy test, which led to her parents taking her to the doctor and confirming that she was pregnant.

Rachel's boyfriend, an 18-year-old senior at her high school, was the father of her unborn child. However, when Rachel's parents went to his house to confront him, his mother accused Rachel of lying and refused to accept any responsibility for the baby.

On the evening of January 15, 1995, Rachel performed in a band concert at her high school. Her parents attended the concert and then had dinner together at home. Later that night, Rachel's mother kissed her children goodnight and left for work. Rachel was last seen by her 3-year-old sister watching a movie with her brother at 1 am on January 16th.

Rachel's mother, Jan, became concerned when she called home at midnight and the line was busy. She arrived home at 2 am to find Rachel missing, along with her jacket, but all of her other belongings were left behind. Jan waited up for Rachel, but she never returned.

Despite being reported missing, Rachel was labeled a runaway. However, her parents vehemently disagreed, insisting that she would never have left her beloved siblings behind. There were some alleged sightings of Rachel with her boyfriend after she went missing, but these were never confirmed.

Rachel missed several prenatal appointments and there is no evidence that she ever gave birth, obtained a driver's license, or used her Social Security Card to apply for a job. Her disappearance remains a mystery, and her family still hopes to find her after 28 years.

If you have any information about Rachel's disappearance, please contact the Garden City PD at 620-276-1300.
