A Fiery End to a Mercedes-Benz AMG GLC 43 Coupe Hit-and-Run

What initially appeared to be a simple case of a Mercedes-Benz GLC 43 Coupe, license plate AMG 1936 catching fire near the Wangsa Maju toll plaza on the Setiawangsa-Pantai Expressway (SPE) has turned out to be much more serious.

According to a social media post by user Bazly Baly, this particular Mercedes Benz was involved in a hit-and-run incident with a motorcycle. Details shared indicate that the incident was captured on another vehicle’s dashcam, which shows the Mercedes Benz colliding with a motorcyclist.

The footage also reveals that the driver initially stopped after the collision but then fled the scene. The vehicle later caught fire at KM18, presumably due to damage from the accident.

Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department operations commander, Nor Shaiful Ibrahim, reported that the fire was first reported at 1:38 pm and was extinguished by 2:15 pm. The vehicle, however, was completely destroyed fortunately without any injuries reported.

The motorcyclist however, sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment at the Emergency Unit at Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL).

According to the motorcyclist's sister, Shahrizah Saini, a police report was filed. The driver of the Mercedes Benz later surrendered to the police despite initially denying involvement in the accident, unaware that the incident had been captured on dashcam.

Authorities have confirmed that the case is now under investigation and will proceed to court for legal action. According to the victim's sister, the family will also be looking into potential claims for damages.
