With the 46th ASEAN Summit 2025 taking place in Kuala Lumpur, all eyes are on our country as the host of the prestigious event.

Considering the major event, the Aduan Rakyat X page highlighted how walkway tiles were broken in locations where ASEAN Summit delegations were staying.

They wrote, “Seriously lah, DBKL? The walkway tiles are horribly broken, right in front of the hotel of the ASEAN Summit delegations. Do you want to give them the perception that Malaysia does not have money to fix our walkways?”

Aduan Rakyat also showcased how the tiles at the KLCC walkway were also broken and highlighted how DBKL needs to step up enforcement against motorcycles being brought onto walkways to be parked there, as that could lead to the walkway tiles becoming broken.

“Among the causes of cracked walkway tiles. Motorcycles are parked and ridden on walkways. Is it DBKL’s enforcement action SOP to wait for the public to make a complaint first before action is taken?”

DBKL fixed the tiles, but people are even more disappointed!

Soon after, the Kuala Lumpur Command and Control Centre (KLCCC) under DBKL responded to Aduan Rakyat’s post by highlighting that the broken walkway tiles have been fixed, in a now-deleted comment.

“For everyone’s information, remedial actions have been taken for the safety of citizens. Thank you,” KLCCC DBKL wrote.

Their repairs have left everyone somewhat unimpressed, as rather than fixing the tiles, cement was poured over the broken areas. This includes cement being poured over yellow tactile paving meant to assist the blind.

“What are those yellow tiles for? Did you just pour cement, or do you have a plan to install new yellow tiles? Do you know the function of those yellow tiles?”

What do you think of DBKL’s efforts in fixing the broken walkway tiles? Do feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section.
