Last week, the body of a Harimau Malaya tiger was found in a river in Kelantan which angered a lot of netizens.

However, on 6 July, another Harimau Malaya was killed due to an accident near Tapah, Perak.

According to The Sun Daily, the tiger was found dead after it was hit by a car at KM314 of the North-South Expressway, northbound.

The incident happened at about 5.45 am and the Nissan Juke driven by a man was damaged in front due to impact with the tiger.

The tiger carcass was found in a drain beside the highway.

Perak Wildlife and National Parks department director, Yusoff Shariff confirmed that they have received a report on this matter.

“The male Malayan tiger was estimated to be four years old and weighed about 120 kilogrammes.”

In addition to that, he added: “The carcass of the tiger will be taken to the National Wildlife Rescue Centre (NWRC) in Sungkai for further investigation.”

According to the World Wildlife Fund, there may be less than 150 Malayan tigers as of 2022.

So, with the population already being minuscule, we hope that the authorities can get to the bottom of the case and figure out how to further protect the tigers.
