In a nod to cinematic history, fashion powerhouse Chanel has unveiled a bag campaign paying tribute to Claude Lelouch’s 1966 masterpiece, A Man and A Woman, which won multiple awards, including the Palme d’Or at the 1966 Cannes Film Festival, the Oscar for Best Foreign Film in 1967 and the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.
The campaign, shot by Inez & Vinoodh, recreates iconic scenes from the film, starring renowned actors Penélope Cruz and Brad Pitt. Set against the picturesque backdrop of Deauville, which holds special significance for the masion, the campaign highlights the enduring allure of Chanel’s iconic handbag.
Cruz, a Chanel ambassador since 2018, stars alongside Pitt in the campaign, embodying the raw emotion and intimacy depicted in the original film. Evoking themes of fantasy, audacity, and freedom, Cruz’s character navigates moments of passion and longing, the Chanel bag serves as her constant companion, representing courage and self-expression.
