Minister of Home Affairs Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail attended the opening of the Oriental Kopi outlet at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1, where he spoke warmly about the brand and praised Malaysian cuisine.

Saifuddin, a frequent patron of the chain, believes it is a strategic move for Oriental Kopi to open at the airport, as it allows foreign tourists to easily experience and be introduced to Malaysia’s local flavours.

“I pray that Oriental Kopi will continue to progress and grow”

Earlier, Transport Minister Anthony Loke visited Oriental Kopi at KLIA Terminal 1, where he had the chance to mingle with its founder, Dato’ Calvin Chan. Both dicussed about the possibility of expanding the chain to transportation hubs nationwide.

Saifuddin acknowledged the long queues typically found at Oriental Kopi outlets. While highlighting how the airport location benefits both the brand and tourists, he emphasised that the food can be enjoyed by everyone without concern.

“Most importantly, this restaurant is Halal-certified. No doubt about it, so everyone can enjoy.

“I pray that Oriental Kopi will continue to progress, grow, and become one of Malaysia’s proud local brands,” he remarked in his Facebook post.

Dato’ Calvin also took to social media to thank the Minister of Home Affairs for attending the 20 January opening despite his hectic schedule. For travellers looking for a coffee or kaya toast before their flight, Oriental Kopi is located at KLIA Terminal 1, International Level 5 (Departure Level).

The chain also operates two outlets at KLIA Terminal 2: at Level 2 (Arrival Hall) and Level 3 (Departure Hall).
