SIPITANG: A Japanese zero fighter (pix) that should rightfully be in the museum for future generations to know one of the remaining relics of the war 80 years ago is rusting away in Kampung Pa Puti, Lawas, near the Sabah-Sarawak border.
The aircraft is believed to have made an emergency landing there around 1945 during the conflict between Allied forces and the Imperial Japanese army.
Kg Pa Puti, meaning “Clean Water Village,” is home to the Lun Bawang ethnic group who settled there in the early 1940s.
The trip to Kg Pa Puti is a 40-minute drive to Kg Pangalih and passing through an immigration checkpoint at Sindumin/Merapok. Support Independant Journalism Subscribe to Daily Express Malaysia 1-Year: Premium PlanRM180.00 / yearSubscribe Already a subscriber? Unlock this Article, Sign In Here
