The most successful fashion careers are rarely built on a single qualification. Students who enter the industry with a strong undergraduate foundation and then deepen that expertise with a postgraduate specialisation consistently outperform peers across design leadership, luxury brand management, and entrepreneurial roles. AAFT Noida is one of the few institutions in Delhi NCR that offers a genuinely integrated fashion education pathway from the four-year B.Des in Fashion Design undergraduate degree through to the two-year M.Des in Fashion Design postgraduate programme, both on the same campus, with the same faculty ecosystem, industry connections, and placement infrastructure.

For students deciding where to invest in a fashion design course, the ability to progress from an undergraduate degree to a master’s without changing institutions is a significant practical and academic advantage. There is no fresh round of applications, portfolio reviews, or relocation between degrees. Faculty already know the student’s strengths and gaps, so the M.Des can build on what was covered in the B.Des instead of repeating it. Students also keep access to the same studios, equipment, and industry networks they have spent four years working with. At AAFT, the B.Des and M.Des are designed as a cohesive arc, not two independent programmes that happen to share a building.

The B.Des in Fashion Design: Building the Foundation Across Four Years

The B.Des in Fashion Design is AAFT’s four-year undergraduate fashion designing degree, structured across eight progressive semesters. The curriculum follows a 70:30 industry-centric model and covers the complete range of design skills a graduate needs to enter the industry with confidence: fashion illustration, pattern making, garment construction across Indian and western silhouettes, draping, textile science, surface ornamentation, CAD tools including Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, fashion forecasting, quality control, visual merchandising, apparel branding, and sustainable design.

What distinguishes the B.Des is the combination of creative depth and professional application built across the eight semesters. Semester 7 introduces Techno Fashion, covering wearable technology, smart textiles, and interface design alongside Creative Pattern Making with origami-inspired three-dimensional structural techniques, and Costume Jewellery Design. The final semester delivers a Graduation Design Research project and a complete Graduation Design Collection, forming the centrepiece of every graduate’s professional portfolio.

From January 2026, AI tools, including Midjourney, Leonardo, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Reach CAD, and Future Snoops, are integrated across all semesters as core studio skills, preparing B.Des students for an industry where digital fluency and creative judgment are inseparable. The programme’s ‘Design Your Own Degree’ structure further allows students to personalise their specialisation track from Semester 3, choosing from Photography and Fashion Communication, Retail Buying and Merchandising, Production Management, Lifestyle and Accessories Design, or Entrepreneurial Brand Building.

The M.Des in Fashion Design: Advancing to Leadership and Specialisation

For graduates of the B.Des in Fashion Design or related undergraduate programmes, the M.Des in Fashion Design at AAFT is the logical next step. The two-year postgraduate degree develops advanced expertise across design research methodology, sustainable fashion systems, luxury brand management, techno fashion, international fashion markets, and fashion entrepreneurship. Where the B.Des builds the range of skills needed to operate as a professional designer, the M.Des develops the depth of expertise needed to lead as a creative director, brand strategist, design researcher, sustainability specialist, or founder of an independent fashion label.

The M.Des programme at AAFT benefits from the same faculty team, industry dean mentorship, Global Fashion Week platform, and placement infrastructure as the undergraduate degree. Students progressing from B.Des to M.Des do not start over in a new environment; they build on four years of relationships, portfolio work, and industry exposure within the same creative ecosystem.

Industry Mentorship Across Both Programmes

The AAFT Noida’s School of Fashion Design is led by an Industry Dean with decades of international design experience who delivers 50+ hours of in-person mentorship, 10 exclusive masterclasses, and direct portfolio reviews to both undergraduate and postgraduate students. The faculty team brings over 200 combined years of professional experience, including textile chemistry, sustainable fashion, Lakme Fashion Week and international runway credentials, 12 seasons at India Fashion Week and India Couture Week, and deep expertise in textiles, handloom, and fashion marketing.

In-House Global Fashion Week and Placement Outcomes

AAFT’s annual In-House Global Fashion Week gives both B.Des and M.Des students a professionally simulated runway experience on campus, with dignitaries from countries including Peru and the Slovak Republic attending past editions. Students manage full collection development, styling coordination, and media engagement following professional protocols. The Career Resource Cell then translates this experience into placements at Prada, Gucci, Dior, Louis Vuitton, H&M, Adidas, Levi’s, Arvind Fashions, Fabindia, and Marks and Spencer, among many others.

Fashion Designing Course Fees and Admissions

The B.Des in Fashion Design is structured at approximately INR 1,00,000 per semester, with a one-time admission fee of INR 30,000 at joining. For the complete fashion designing course fees across both the B.Des and M.Des programmes, visit the official fee structure page. B.Des applications for 2026 are open to candidates who have completed 10+2 from any recognised board with a minimum of 50% marks. All streams Arts, Commerce, and Science are eligible. M.Des applications are open to graduates of fashion design, fine arts, or related disciplines. For full details on both programmes, visit B.Des in Fashion Design and M.Des in Fashion Design.
