Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Sunday said it was the state government’s duty to resolve the objections over the new anti-sacrilege law raised by Akal Takht and the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC).

The Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Act was passed by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.

Talking to mediapersons after addressing a public function in memory of Jassa Singh Ramgarhia here, Sukhbir said, “The SAD agrees with views of the Akal Takht Jathedar, who has asked the AAP government to amend objectionable provisions in the anti-sacrilege Act, which go against the Khalsa Panth and the sentiments of the Sikh community.”

The SAD chief said the SGPC, an elected body of the Sikh community, had conveyed its views to the AAP government and they should be respected.

On what he alleged was the corruption unleashed by the AAP government, Sukhbir said, “The AAP rule is akin to the rule of Ahmed Shah Abdali, who plundered Punjab at will before meeting his match in Jassa Singh Ramgarhia.”

He said the manner in which the state’s resources were being “looted” was coming out in the open with the arrest of cabinet minister Sanjeev Arora. He alleged Arora had taken on the “duty to plunder Punjab” and hand over Rs 200 crore every month to AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal.

Sukhbir called for action against Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, his officers on special duty (OSDs) and other associates for “corrupt” activities. He said all AAP legislators and halqa in-charges should be investigated.
