A number of leaders and workers of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the Patti Assembly constituency have joined the Congress under the leadership of former MLA Harminder Singh Gill.
In a political programme held recently in Sangwan village, Gill welcomed the new entrants into the party, saying development in the Patti constituency had taken place during the tenure of the Congress government.
Those who joined the Congress include former sarpanches Baldev Singh, Gurnam Singh, Achhaar Singh, and Narinder Singh, as well as former Block Samiti member Harbhej Singh.
Many of the leaders’ supporters joined the party at the event as well.
Gill said the Congress would accord due respect to all new members.
He alleged that the work on Guru Teg Bahadur Law University at Kairon had been halted by the AAP government, adding that “once the Congress returns to power”, the project would be fully revived.
The law university, he said, would bring about a major transformation in the region’s educational landscape.
