
POLICE in Klang have launched an investigation after a newborn baby boy was found abandoned outside a house in the Rantau Panjang area, with authorities confirming the infant is in stable condition.
Klang Utara police chief Assistant Commissioner S. Vijaya Rao said officers received a report from a local man at about 11am on Wednesday regarding the discovery.
The baby was found wrapped and placed on a sofa outside the residence, appearing healthy and without any visible injuries.
He was subsequently taken to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital, where he is being cared for in the Special Care Nursery.
The case is being investigated under Section 317 of the Penal Code for child abandonment, which carries a penalty of up to seven years’ imprisonment, a fine, or both upon conviction.
Police are working to establish the identity of the infant and locate those responsible for the abandonment.
