A 23-year-old Indonesian man has been arrested in Singapore after exposing himself to a female flight attendant mid-flight and recording the act on his smartphone. The shocking incident occurred on January 23 while the suspect was onboard a flight to Singapore.
According to the Singapore Police Force (SPF), officers from the Airport Police Division apprehended the man upon his arrival at Changi Airport after receiving a report about his inappropriate behavior.
Investigations revealed that during the flight, the suspect unzipped his pants while seated and exposed his genitals, covering himself with a blanket to avoid immediate detection. He then set up his smartphone in video recording mode. When a female cabin crew member approached to serve his meal, he suddenly removed the blanket, fully exposing himself in her view.
Startled by the obscene act, the flight attendant quickly moved away and reported the matter to her supervisor. The airline staff responded immediately and brought to the attention of airport authorities before landing.
Upon arrival at Changi Airport, the suspect was taken into custody by the Airport Police Division, and his smartphone was seized for further investigation.
The man is set to be charged in court on March 12 under Section 377BF of the Singapore Penal Code 1871, read in conjunction with Section 3(1) of the Tokyo Convention Act 1971. If convicted, he faces up to one year in prison, a fine, or both.
The SPF has reiterated its firm stance against sexual misconduct, warning that such behavior—whether in public spaces or onboard an aircraft—will not be tolerated.
The police have urged passengers to report any inappropriate behavior immediately, ensuring that offenders are held accountable. This case serves as a reminder that any form of sexual misconduct carries severe consequences.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities will continue monitoring such incidents to uphold safety and security on flights.
