ABOITIZ Economic Estates on Thursday said it has opened an office in Tokyo to deepen engagement with Japanese manufacturers and support companies looking to expand or scale operations in the Philippines.
The Tokyo office, borne from decades of partnership between the Aboitiz group and Japanese businesses, aims to provide closer, on-the-ground support for existing locators, while facilitating faster coordination with prospective investors, Aboitiz said.
Japanese firms have played a key role in Aboitiz’s industrial developments, particularly at LIMA Estate in Batangas, a 1,100-hectare PEZA-registered economic zone with locators led by Epson Precision Philippines and Yamaha Motor Philippines.
The partnerships also extend to West Cebu Estate, where Tsuneishi Heavy Industries is a major locator, and to the broader Aboitiz group’s collaboration with JERA Co. Inc. in large-scale energy projects and technology initiatives.
The Aboitiz Tokyo office will be led by Kazuaki Shirozono, appointed senior adviser for global market strategy and development. He will serve as the firm’s local representative, assisting existing Japanese locators and potential investors evaluating projects in the Philippines.
The company is also positioning newer developments, such as the 384-hectare TARI Estate in Tarlac, with Coca-Cola Europacific Aboitiz Philippines and Ajinomoto Philippines Corp. as early locators.
