MANILA, Philippines—Abolishing the travel tax could mean as much as P22 billion in additional annual government income, Marikina 2nd District Rep. Miro Quimbo said Sunday.
Quimbo, who heads the Committee on Ways and Means at the House of Representatives, said that the government will earn more once the travel tax is scrapped.
"The income of our travel agencies, our airline companies will increase. In our computation, the additional amount in terms of income tax, because they will earn more, will reach P22 billion. It is really a no brainer," Quimbo said in Filipino and English in a radio interview.
