MEDIA network ABS-CBN Corp. on Monday said it cut its net loss by 23 percent to P4.72 billion last year, from P6.09 billion in 2024, as gains from its content business and aggressive cost reductions helped offset continued weakness in its cable and broadband segment.
In a disclosure, the company said recurring consolidated net loss improved by 13 percent, or P588 million, from a year earlier, reflecting stronger operating performance.
Consolidated revenues fell 9 percent to P15.85 billion “as a 39-percent drop in cable TV and broadband revenue to P3.27 billion offset the gains in content,” ABS-CBN said.
The media firm said that across the group, cost cuts trimmed operating expenses by 18 percent to P20.48 billion.
By segment, revenue from the content production and distribution rose 5 percent to P12.59 billion, driven by higher advertising spending and steady consumer demand.
Advertising revenues grew by P421 million, supported by election-related placements and prime-time programs, while consumer revenues, which include films, music and live events, grew 4 percent to P5.46 billion.
Operating expenses in the segment dropped by 9 percent, or P1.43 billion, following cuts in overhead and personnel costs, resulting in a lower recurring net loss of P2.54 billion, down by P318 million from the previous year.
ABS-CBN said its digital platforms continued to drive growth, with direct-to-consumer revenues reaching a record P1.03 billion, while direct advertising revenues rose 23 percent to P842 million.
The company claimed that its entertainment channel on YouTube remained “the top entertainment channel in the Philippines and Southeast Asia” after generating 12 billion views in 2025, while streaming platform iWant was said to have expanded its subscriber base by 19 percent following its relaunch in July.
Meanwhile, film unit Star Cinema produced the top three highest-grossing Filipino films last year, led by “Call Me Mother,” which earned P389 million worldwide.
The cable TV and broadband segment also trimmed its recurring net loss by 17 percent to P1.34 billion. Including one-time items, reported net loss dropped 82 percent to P776 million, aided by P3.04 billion in cost savings.
ABS-CBN shares dropped P0.06, or 1.84 percent, to close at P3.20 each on Monday.
