AC Milan chief Paolo Maldini says playing at Tottenham Hotspur stadium should act as inspiration for the club's own plans.
Ahead of last night's 0-0 draw and progress to the Champions League quarterfinals, Maldini commented on the London stadium.
He said, "We saw the beauty of a modern stadium. Those of us who played hundreds of games at San Siro and know what it feels like to play in a stadium like that must also realise it is very difficult to be competitive without a modern stadium. This is the proof.
In the modern era, if you don't have a strong balance sheet, it is practically mathematical you won't be a regular in the top four in Italy and top eight in Europe.
I am here not just to help Milan have superior revenue, but to have the kind of sporting results suited to an historic club. We must be ambitious above all on a sporting level."
