AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli was left delighted after Friday night's 2-1 win at Roma.
Olivier Giroud and Rafael Leao struck for Milan, with Leonardo Spinazzola scoring a late consolation for Roma. Fikayo Tomori saw red for Milan on the hour mark.
Pioli said: "We approached all three games in a very good way and that's important, and we tried to control the game how we want to. I believe that we did that, we looked threatening without conceding dangerous chances, which is important.
I was about to sub off Fik and Ruben because of the bookings and unfortunately, we went down to ten men. However, the group then showed a lot of character, desire and hunger to bring him the three points. Credit to my players."
On Tomori's red card, he added: I must say that Fik was having a great game, reading it well and also building from the back. He has the great quality of being aggressive and fast, but I agree with you that he needs to understand sometimes when to make a move on a player. I'm sorry we won't have him available for the next game but I'm happy that he's been called up for England."
