AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli was satisfied after their 1-1 draw with AS Roma.

Tammy Abraham had Roma ahead in the 94th minute, only for Alexis Saelemaekers to hit the equaliser in the 97th.

We did not play badly, but we certainly lacked the right moves at the right time," Pioli told DAZN.

We controlled the match, took the initiative and then didn't make the most of the chances we created in the final third with a bit more determination, sharpness and focus. We know Roma rarely concede at home, the more time went on, the more difficult it became.

It is not the result we wanted, but we managed to recover a result that could've been truly negative, especially considering the performance. I believed in victory, because we are in good shape, it was a strange game with I think 106 minutes played and 49 of those with the ball in play. It was difficult, constantly stop and start, it was tough to get the moves flowing.

Roma had basically a five-man defence, it is also true that we didn't move the ball around quickly enough and went to the wings too often rather than seek different channels.

I think we started well, can do better, but it takes two to get a game flowing. When everyone defends behind the ball, it is tricky to find those spaces. You need two teams to play a certain type of football and have far fewer interruptions than we saw today.

We lost the ball cheaply too many times and didn't combine quickly enough to create those spaces. It is just a point, we wanted a victory, but the team fought hard."
