Chelsea are ready to make a new push for AC Milan striker Rafael Leao.
Milan director Paolo Maldini has confirmed they resisted an approach from Chelsea over the summer.
La Gazzetta dello Sport says after their informal enquiries, the Blues intend to return in January with an official bid.
However, Milan hope to secure Leao's commitment by opening new contract talks.
Currently on €2m-a-year, the striker wants €7m-a-year to stay. Milan, meanwhile, will seek a compromise at €6m-a-year.
