PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) has reminded doctors who failed to report for duty in Sarawak or rejected posts there that they are required to adhere to directives as civil servants.
“An appeal can be sent, but first accept the post and report for duty,” its president, Dr Muruga Raj Rajathurai, said in a statement.
The health ministry, for its part, must take into consideration appeals with valid reasons made by doctors for not accepting these postings, he said.
Muruga was commenting on a report that more than 200 doctors had failed to report for work or had rejected contract positions to serve in Sarawak.
