Acer Malaysia Launches New Predator Gaming Laptop, Gaming Monitor, Desktop PC & Nitro Portable Display

Earlier today, Acer Malaysia has launched a new lineup of gaming products comprising updated Predator Helios Neo 16 gaming laptop, Predator Orion 5000 gaming desktop, along with Predator XB273U X2 gaming monitor, as well as the Nitro PG241Y P1 portable high refresh rate display.

Predator Helios Neo 16 & Orion 5000

The Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 is slightly updated to include new processor and GPU models. There are five new configurations, with up to an Intel Core i7-14650HX and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU available; depending on the GPU choice, the 16-inch IPS display can either be a FHD+ or QHD+ resolution, with 180Hz refresh rate, 3ms response time, and 100% sRGB color coverage. Pricing starts from RM7,299 for the RTX 5050 variant, up to RM9,999 for the maxed-out models.

The Predator Orion 5000 gaming desktop meanwhile welcomes a new configuration of Intel Core Ultra 7 265F with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 graphics. The desktop uses a 45-liter chassis with tempered glass side panels, ARGB lighting, and Predator CycloneX 360 cooling system; it includes 32GB DDR5 RAM expandable to 128GB, 1TB SSD storage with M.2 and SATA expansion options, plus Wi-Fi 7 support. Acer says the new desktop will cost RM14,999 apiece.

On the monitor side of things, Acer also introduced the Predator XB273U X2 gaming monitor, featuring a 27-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) IPS display with an overclocked 210Hz refresh rate and 0.5ms response time aimed at competitive gaming crowd. It also features 90% DCI-P3 color gamut, though not quite at the level that would qualify the monitor for proper color-critical work. The panel brightness is rated at 350 nits, based on its website’s spec sheet. Price is listed at RM799 for the new Predator monitor.

The final product of the four is a bit of an oddity: the Acer Nitro PG241Y P1 is a portable monitor first and gaming monitor second, with a 144Hz refresh rate on its 23.8-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) IPS panel, which is probably gigantic by portable monitor standards. It’s also one of the few models that doesn’t totally skimp on color characteristics, maintaining at least 72% NTSC color space (equivalent to 100% sRGB); the panel is rated at 300 nits max, which isn’t much to handle outdoor environments.

The monitor supports HDMI input or DisplayPort via a single USB-C cable, which can be used to supply power, but it seems like you’ll need the external power source to actually use the full brightness based on our quick trial on-site (it’ll be locked to 30% max otherwise). It’s got an integrated kickstand allowing it to stand upright in any flat surface, and conveniently, it also supports 100 x 100 mm VESA mounting for those who use custom monitor arms for their desk setups. One of these can be had for RM649.
