Kota Kinabalu: Dewan Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu (DBKK) has taken firm action against illegal vendors operating within the city centre through a special operation dubbed Ops Street.
DBKK Enforcement Department conducted the operation from 4pm to 6pm in several locations on June 4, including around the KK Plaza building, Anjung Kinabalu (main market), The Shore and along Jalan Tun Fuad Stephens, starting from the Segama Waterfront roundabout to Dataran Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu.
During the operation, monitoring and enforcement actions were carried out against individuals identified as violating or committing offences under the Hawkers By-Laws 1966.
Three compounds were issued to vendors operating without permission around The Shore area, while warnings were given to food stall vendors near Segama Waterfront who violated regulations.

All vendors operating within the city area have been reminded to respect the laws and conduct business only in permitted areas.
DBKK has taken decisive action to ensure compliance with parking regulations by conducting Ops Tunda around Jalan Tun Fuad Stephens and Jalan 20 on June 5.
Through this special enforcement operation, DBKK Enforcement Department issued 19 compounds to individuals found violating and committing offences under the Minor Offences (Provision of Public Parking Places) (Coupon Parking, City of Kota Kinabalu, 2014).
Additionally, a vehicle that was obstructing traffic on Jalan Tun Fuad Stephens was towed and the owner had to pay a towing fee of RM100 and a compound of RM100 before the vehicle was returned.
The 3pm to 11pm operation was carried out by nine DBKK enforcement officers.
The authorities have reminded the public to always comply with the established parking regulations and refrain from parking vehicles in unauthorised areas, as it may cause traffic disruptions and inconvenience to other road users.
Ops Tunda will continue periodically and from time to time, with the aim of educating and raising awareness among the people to respect and uphold the sovereignty of the laws.
